Hi, and welcome. If we haven’t met yet, my name is Eseosa. I am a Uk trained midwife, and I’m currently working as a travel midwife in Australia after making the move independently. If you’re here, you might be exploring a future in midwifery, already navigating your journey as a student or qualified midwife, or considering opportunities abroad. What does the “Moving to Australia” 1-to-1 include?
The “Moving to Australia” 1-to-1 is a personalised session where we look at your individual plans and help you understand the process of moving to Australia as an internationally qualified midwife.
We'll cover the areas that are most relevant to you, which may include:
- Ahpra/NMBA registration — understanding the registration process and what to expect
- Vaccinations & health requirements — what you may need to consider before moving
- Jobs & employment — different types of midwifery roles and what to consider when looking for work
- Visa options — an overview of the visa considerations involved in moving to Australia
- Relocation — practical things to think about when planning your move
- Your individual situation — we'll use the session to focus on the questions and areas that are most relevant to you
This is a guidance and information session based on my own experience and knowledge. It is not formal immigration or legal advice, and Ahpra/NMBA make the final decision regarding registration.
What is Stream A?
Stream A is one of the pathways used by Ahpra/NMBA when assessing internationally qualified nurses and midwives (IQNMs). Your stream is determined through the Ahpra Self-check based on your qualification and the relevant assessment criteria.
For this 1-to-1 service, I currently only accept bookings from internationally qualified midwives who are eligible for the Stream A pathway.
If you're unsure whether you fall into this category, please complete the Ahpra Self-check first. Ahpra will advise you of your assigned stream.
Please note: I cannot determine or guarantee your Ahpra stream for you. Your stream and registration eligibility are determined by Ahpra/NMBA.
Will the 1-to-1 guarantee my Ahpra application?
No.
The 1-to-1 is designed to help you understand the process and prepare for your move — but I cannot guarantee that your Ahpra/NMBA registration application will be approved.
Ahpra and the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia independently assess registration applications and make the final decision.
You will need to complete your own application directly with Ahpra and pay any applicable Ahpra/NMBA fees yourself.
My role is to help you understand the process, know what to expect and feel more prepared for your move to Australia.
Do I need to have started my Ahpra application before booking?
Yes. I recommend completing your Ahpra Self-check before booking.
Your Self-check helps determine the pathway you need to follow. As this 1-to-1 is currently for Stream A midwives, you should have been advised by Ahpra that you can proceed through Stream A before booking.
